a Decade of Dedication...
The Critter Exchange was started in December of 1996, with a borrowed computer, and hand-me-down light table and waxer, a LOT of good will and volunteer hours, and a mission to provide “Information and Education to Pets and Their People.” Animal lovers were enthusiastic about it right from the start, and have remained loyal readers and supporters throughout the years.
The Equine Exchange was born in 2003 to fill a growing need in the community for more accessible information on equine care, behavior and handling. That need is still prevalent, but for a myriad of reasons, it has not made sense for us to be producing a second, separate, specialized publication. There are several excellent all-equine publications in the area, and through extensive surveying of animal owners, we have found that our readership loves to read about all species of animals.
“All Creature’s Exchange,” combines our two popular titles back under one heading, with one website, and a LOT of new innovations! The paper is truly a product of ten years of trial and error, but I think in that process, we have refined our scope to reflect the unfulfilled needs of the animal loving community.
Meet the Team
All Creature's Exchange is compiled and distributed each month by a team of dedicated volunteers who share a passion for animal education:
Beth Maltzie-EventsCoordinator/ Ad Designer- Beth Maltzie started with Critter Publishing in 2003 in order to learn the ropes of the publishing industry and to use her graphic design skills in creating ads for most of you. Since then, she has contributed not only with ad creation, but with the paper’s layout, database management, answering e-mails, compiling event information for the calendar and “What’s Happening” sections and just helping out wherever necessary.
Beth loves animals and the time she spends putting care into what she does for the All Creatures Exchange reflects her desire to help educate folks about animal care. She says, “I have seen the paper grow and become more streamlined in order to reach the maximum number of readers who want to know more about caring for their animals. My desire is to support Julie and the team in order to make people aware of animal situations within New England and, as the mission statement says, ‘provide information and education to pets and their people’.”
Beth shares a home in Boscawen with her husband Scott and two beautiful kitties they selected from the Concord-Merrimack SPCA named Buffy and Evinrude.
Rowena Howes- Distribution Manager, Administrative Assistant- Rowena Howes first learned about the paper in 2001, and became peripherally involved in updating distribution lists after her daughter volunteered for the paper during the summer of 2004. Since then, she has taken a larger role in managing the distribution lists and also helps with office administration. Rowena says "I love anything with four legs and fur, and
being a small part of spreading information and knowledge about the furry things I've been bringing home all my life is surprisingly satisfying." She lives in Nottingham with her husband and two children. Since the children are both leaving home this fall, one to work and one to college, Rowena will
gladly take over the care of Plato and Socrates.

We hope to provide the mechanism for serving the needs of those who love animals for many years to come. I sincerely thank all of our readers for your input, and for ten years of faithful, enthusiastic support for this cause we are all so passionate about.
Sincerely,

Julie Anderson-Perron
